February 6, 2010 by Wendy Boswell
Just what she’s always wanted, I’m sure! JK Rowling is going to be getting her very own Barbie doll likeness, according to Mattel. The doll will NOT be available for sale, unfortunately. She will be dressed in a black suit and hot pink tank underneath, and if you want to see the doll, you’ll have to travel to the Nuremberg Toy Fair, where it will be displayed. Here are the images from the toy fair of the new JK Rowling Barbie doll; you can see that there are stacked Harry Potter books behind her in the display:
Warner Brothers confirms: Deathly Hallows will be in 3D
February 3, 2010 by Wendy Boswell
It’s official: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in 3D.
“We are experienced and have been successful in the conversion of 2D to 3D going back to such hits as ‘The Polar Express,’ select scenes in ‘Superman Returns‘ and the last two Harry Potter films,” Warners domestic distribution boss Dan Fellman said.
What do you think of a 3D experience? Personally, I’m pretty much “meh” about this announcement. I hate wearing the little glasses!
Remember, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.
First look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Super Bowl commercial!
February 2, 2010 by Wendy Boswell
Hold on to your hats, Gryffindors! I’ve got the first look at Universal Studios’ Super Bowl commercial for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and if you weren’t already spazzing out about how awesome this is, you will be now! You’ll see two kids magically whisked away after reading a Hogwarts acceptance letter (brought to them by Hedwig, of course!); they fly on their brooms through the Hogwarts Castle with Harry Potter himself in the lead. Look closely at the dragon chasing them; it’s actually a roller coaster!

Dan, Rupert, and Emma talk to French magazine about filming 7 Potters and Silver Doe scenes for Deathly Hallows

The French publication One Magazine has posted a fantastic interview with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson about filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. French Harry Potter site Harry Potter Forever has posted a translation of the interview. First, let’s hear what Dan has to say about filming the somewhat infamous Butt Nekkid Scene, aka Silver Doe.
“In the Deathly Hallows, you’ll see Harry as you never saw him before ! For example, I shot a scene where i’m entirely naked. When I read the script, I thought that I would carry underwears but no ! I’ve already done it for Equus so it wasn’t so difficult. I’m wondering how people will react, even if any things will be hidden in the screen!”
Next, Dan talked about filming the Seven Potters scene:
“Recently, we’ve finished a scene in which I had difficulties. It’s the 7 Potter’s scene ! We had to shoot a take where I was a different Harry instead of the other actors. It was fun, but very hard, because sometimes, I forgot who I had to be … That made me crazy!”
Emma chimed in and talked about kissing these two characters:
“To kiss Rupert in front of cameras will stay the strangest experience for me, since I’ve played in Harry Potter. Him and I was frightened about this scene, and would like to do it quickly. But the hardest is coming … I have to kiss Dan! It’s a scene where Ron imagine a kiss between Harry and Hermione.”
Last, but not least, Rupert talked about filming some pretty demanding scenes, physically:
“We shot a lot of physical scenes. For Daniel, filming was very complicated. But he never complained … When he became sick because of filming conditions, he was ok and he never complained …”

Emma Watson talks about People Tree
February 1, 2010 by Wendy Boswell
Actress Emma Watson, who has put her talents into designing a new line of ecologically conscious clothing for People Tree, gave a little more information about this new venture to the Telegraph this past Sunday. Here’s a snippet:
“It’s hard to know what is good and what is bad on the high street and equally hard to find fashionable or youthful ethical clothing. I don’t want to wear something on my body that hurts the environment or the people in it. I wanted to put together a collection I could be proud of in terms of both ethics and design. It shocks me that even today only one per cent of cotton produced in the world is Fair Trade and organic.”
“I’ve not had any fashion training, but I am an artist. I paint, I draw and I had a great team to work with. I designed the collection for myself and my friends; they’re the sort of thing we wear – the difference being they’re ecologically sound.”
“I became completely engrossed. I tried on the clothes, I worked on the catalogue and my friends and I were models. We all worked for free.”
Emma also gave us a VERY brief glimpse into her university experience these days and what she’s planning afterwards:
“I’m going to be there for four years but I’m not planning to disappear. I’m auditioning for a play, Chekhov’s Three Sisters, and I’m still reading scripts. Where I’ll be in ten years’ time, I really have no idea. I am on the brink of making some big decisions.”
