Emma Watson on the Jonathan Ross show - watch!

July 6, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Here’s a great set of videos of Emma Watson on the Jonathan Ross show; she talks about Daniel Radcliffe when he was younger, how the producers had Emma and Rupert “cast” before they found the right Harry, how guys use lame pick up lines on her, she confirms she DOES have a boyfriend, that Alan Rickman is super nice, and that kissing Rupert Grint was horrible because it “felt like incest”. Watch:

Daniel Radcliffe in CinePremiere

July 6, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

There are some incredibly hot (and I do mean HOT) photos of Daniel Radcliffe in CinePremiere magazine; you can see the scans here. Here’s an excerpt from his interview:

On Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

There’s a lot of friction in this movie, but this happens between Ron and Hermione, more than with Harry. However, I can tell you that my character is very unhappy in this movie, mainly because people keeps trying to kill him, but his love life is scary. That’s what Jo does best: mixing real ordinary life with fantasy.

On Emma Watson being the ping-pong champion

Rupert says that you play Ping-Pong on your breaks but Emma says he beats all of you…

Yes, it’s annoying that she’s so good (laughs). Rupert and I have played together for eight months and we back each other up. But one day Emma was brilliant, we couldn’t beat her, and I’ve gotten better but I’m never facing her again.

Exclusive new clips from Half-Blood Prince: Burrow attack, Common Room, and more!

July 2, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Here are two brand spankin’ new clips from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In this first clip, you’ll see the Death Eaters attacking the Burrow. Harry and Ginny both jump through the flames to chase after Bellatrix Lestrange, who is chanting “I killed Sirius Black!”. A Death Eater traps Ginny, and Tonks and Pops Weasley jump in beside her and Harry. Watch:

In this second clip, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are talking about the Half-Blood Prince’s book. Harry doesn’t want Hermione to look at it, and Ginny grabs it from him as he walks by.

New Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince TV spot

June 22, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Props to SnitchSeeker for pointing this out; it’s a new advert for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that aired this week; there’s some great interaction between Ron, Hermione, and Harry and Professor McGonagall. Watch:

Here’s the best quote:

McGonagall: Why is it always you three? Hm? When something happens?
Ron: Believe me, Professor, I’ve been asking myself the same question for six years.

LOL! I can’t wait to see this movie!

Shooting schedule for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, character exploration, and split discussion

June 19, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

The shooting schedule for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been revealed by producer David Heyman; it’s so interesting to hear his take on how the movies will be split (any ideas on where they’re going to split it? Talk about it in the comments). Here’s what he had to say:

On having more time with two movies
“This one is much looser. We take the time to explore the characters. Of course, there are big action scenes, big set-pieces, but what I think people really love in Harry Potter films are the characters—Ron, Harry, Hermione—spending time with them. That’s where the real pleasure is, I think.”
The big split
I’m not going to reveal where it is just yet, but there are a couple of places. I initially was not in favor of doing two films. Then I went through the book with Steve Kloves, looking at what you omit, always one of the challenges you make.

“In the seventh book, Harry is at the center of so much of it that, when we looked at what we would cut, it was impossible. There was almost nothing that we could comfortably cut, so it became a very clear decision that we had to make two films.

“Once we made that decision, the challenge is to find out where you cut it. I think we’ve made a really interesting choice. It’s acknowledging that actually this is one book, and there are two parts to the story, and I think it will be really exciting.

“Actually, there’s almost enough material in here to make three films, but I think that would have probably tipped it over the edge. The book is a very rich canvas.”
The shooting schedule
“It hasn’t hit yet because it’s a 248-day schedule, and we’re on Day 67 or 68. There’s 180 to go—and then there’s a year of post—so the horizon looms much closer than ever before, but it’s not yet upon me. I suppose there’ll be mixed feelings. I’ve learned a huge amount. I continue to learn. The material continues to inspire and challenge. Being on this adventure, working on the Potters, has been the gift of all gifts.”

The movie schedule especially is intriguing to me, since I think we forget how LONG movies take to film. It’s one excruciatingly slow step at a time, day after day after day.

There are some truly gorgeous (and new) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince posters that have just been revealed at the British Harry Potter site; make sure you go over and check them out. Best one: Ginny and Harry standing close together giving each other lovey-dovey looks….also a great one of Hermione looking exasperated as Lavender and Ron snog in the background.

More news about the Harry Potter Exhibition

April 30, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Harry Potter writer, JK Rowling arrives at the Elysee palace in Paris

There’s a lot of new stuff out today about the Harry Potter Exhibition, and rather than splitting it up into multiple posts, I thought I’d group it all together for easy access. Here we go:

  • New photos from the Exhibition can be seen here.
  • Screencaps of the USA Today video from yesterday are now available
  • The official press release for the Exhibitioin has been released; LOADS of information is here, including a brief synopsis of what guests can expect:

In true, magical Harry Potter fashion, guests will watch an exciting eight-screen montage of the Harry Potter film series upon entering the exhibition area. After the film footage, the wall in front of the guests will rise to the sound of a train whistle, followed by the roar of the Hogwarts(TM) Express, to reveal the epic sight of a replica of the storied train itself puffing steam onto the arrival platform. Marking the formal beginning of the exhibition, guests will then be escorted along the platform into the portrait gallery.

As guests continue through the exhibition, they will be taken on a journey into the world of Harry Potter through several themed vignettes based on the Gryffindor common room, Hogwarts classrooms, Quidditch(TM), Hagrid’s hut, the Forbidden Forest, an area of Dark Forces and the Great Hall.

Some of the key artifacts on display in these vignettes include Professor Snape’s(TM) original costume; Sybill Trelawney’s crystal ball and exotic wardrobe; costumes and props from Professors Lupin(TM), Lockhart(TM) and Umbridge(TM); props and artifacts from the Yule Ball, including costumes from notable characters such as Harry, Ron, Hermione and Professor Dumbledore(TM); and life-size centaurs, a caged dragon, Buckbeak and giant Acromantula.

In addition, guests will have the opportunity to pull a Mandrake from its pot in the Herbology vignette, toss a Quaffle in the Quidditch area, and tour Hagrid’s hut.

Emma Watson talks about the love triangle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

April 29, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I filming in Picadilly, London

In a new interview with Wizard Universe, Emma Watson talks about the love triangle between Hermione, Lavendar, and Ron. Here’s what she had to say:

What is Hermione’s big moment and big sequence in the sixth film?
WATSON: There’s this mean girl called Lavender who has a bit of a crush on Ron. It’s leaked in the beginning of the film that Hermione and Ron are finally going to get it together, and then she steps in. Hermione is sensitive and quite mean, really. And it’s very much about how she sort of despises Lavender. Not really because she’s taken Ron away, but because she’s kind of the opposite of Hermione. So it’s very comic and also quite sad for her. It’s very Ron based, her part.

When you look back at the making of this film, what do you think you might remember from it?
WATSON: What really stuck out for me was Ron’s Quidditch scene. It was so funny. Rupert’s comic timing is just brilliant and he’s so funny. There’s this great scene where Hermione and Lavender are fighting over Ron, and we had a bit of fun with that. With Dumbledore’s death scene it was absolutely freezing that night and it was a very sad scene, really.

You’ll want to read the rest of the interview, it’s semi-long but so, SO worth it.
