Is this the new Grindelwald?

April 6, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Jameson Empire Awards 2009 - Outside Arrivals

This handsome young lad is Jamie Campbell Bower, and he is rumored to be in final negotiations to play the part of Gellert Grindelwald - one of the most dangerous dark wizards of all time, second only to Voldemort. Of course we know that Grindelwald shows up pretty prominently in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Dumbledore is thought to have carried a bit of a torch for him.

Bower is currently playing a vampire in Twilight sequel “New Moon”, and will most likely start filming his scenes for Deathly Hallows when Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint are finished with the bulk of their scenes, estimated to be sometime this summer (director David Yates is trying to get all done before Emma goes to university in the fall).

Rhys Ifans talks about filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Red Carpet Arrivals - Grand Opening of Atlantis, The Palm

I told you earlier that Rhys Ifans was all set to play the part of Xenophilius Lovegood; he gave a brief interview this week in which he talks about filming the role:

Q. Are you taking any time off?
Rhys Ifans: No. I hit the ground running. I’m working with Ben Stiller now. I fly back to LA on Thursday to do Greenberg, a Noel Baumbach film, with Ben, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Then I fly back here to do Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, and after that I’ll do Nanny McPhee 2, with Emma Thompson (Trelawney). So I’m busy, busy, busy.
Q. Who do you play in Harry Potter? And is this something quite new for you, to be doing family orientated movies?
Rhys Ifans: I play a wizard. The last few Harry Potter films, I think they’re really cool. I was never a real fan of Harry Potter, but I love how they’ve become darker, and I love how Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars have grown up through the telling of the story. Harry Potter is a little bit of history; it will be. So it’s been kind of a real honour being asked to be part of a project like that, and though I haven’t got kids myself, a lot of my friends have kids, so it’ll be great to do something they can see. He’s a good wizard – a really great guy. In Nanny McPhee, I’m a bad guy, someone you’d boo and hiss at.

Ooh, I LOVE Nanny McPhee, I’ve probably watched that move ten times!!! I think Rhys is a good choice for this role, he’s going to bring something really interesting to it.

Aberforth Dumbledore casting rumor!

March 24, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

Ciaran Hinds

Rumor alert, Gryffindors! Actor Cieran Hinds is rumored to be cast in the role of Aberforth Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. You might recognize Cieran from his roles in “In Bruges”, “There Will Be Blood”, and “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”. I think this would be a good choice for the role of Aberforth, he’s kind of a rough and tumble sort of actor and Aberforth definitely is that kind of character.

Injured Harry Potter stuntman will never walk again

March 16, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

The stuntman for Daniel Radcliffe who was seriously injured on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been told he will never walk again.

According to People, his injuries are extremely serious, resulting in the loss of mobility from the waist down:

A source revealed: “Greg (Stunt co-ordinator) is devastated by what has happened. He was there when the surgeons told David that he would never walk again.

It’s terrible news but his family and friends are trying to offer him as much support as they can.

“He is so young and was very good at his job. But his life will be completely altered now.”

The source added: “Although David has been told he’ll never walk again he is still not giving up hope.

“Deep down he knows it’s unlikely but it’s still early days and so he’s not giving up completely.”

I do hope that some kind of miracle happens with this, what a tragedy!

Robert Pattinson talks about how Harry Potter actors handle fame

February 5, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

'Twilight' Paris Photocall

Harry Potter alumni Robert Pattinson spoke recently on his fellow Potter actors and how they handle fame:

“I think the way the kids from Harry Potter are dealing with fame is by ignoring everything and just living their normal lives as much as they can,”

Pattinson expressed admiration for Daniel Radcliffe, as he’s been prone to do lately.

“That has really worked for them,” he said. “They’re all very sane. I think Daniel lives in the same house he grew up in London. You can just see he has matured.”

- source

I’ve said this before, but I really hope that Daniel and the rest of the crew continue to set such good examples and make such honorable choices about their lives. It’s so rare these days to see that!

“He just wants to do good work. There’s nothing else to it.”

Daniel Radcliffe not impressed by Prince Harry

January 28, 2009 by Wendy Boswell

In an interview last week, Daniel Radcliffe spoke out on why he really has “no respect” for the monarchy in England, and also what he thinks of Prince Harry and his racial slur against Pakistani people. First, let’s watch a clip in which you can actually hear this royal slur:

Honestly, I’m not that worried about it, there are a lot worse things he could’ve said, but I think that the press is making a big deal about it because he’s a Prince. Here’s what Daniel had to say:

I have nothing against the royals as people. I’ve never met them. But in terms of that particular comment about Pakistanis, Prince Harry said a very stupid thing. He was probably very young at the time. I hope he has learned since not to say such a thing or at least learned not to be filmed saying it. The big deal to me was his wearing a Nazi uniform at that costume party.”

Okay, I want to hear what YOU have to say on this whole Prince Harry issue. Was he merely an idiot, or does he deserve to be flogged?
