Jason Isaacs talks about Lucius Malfoy - watch!
April 6, 2009 by Wendy Boswell
Jason Isaacs is just a fantastic actor, and I love hearing what else he is up to, you know, other than our favorite Death Eater business! Here’s Jason on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross; he talks about his most recent projects as well as playing Lucius Malfoy. It’s hard for me to picture him as anyone ELSE but Lucius, he’s that good (and dang creepy!)

Jason Isaacs, who does a superior job of playing uber-creepy Lucius Malfoy, gave a really fun interview in which he talked about playing the Bad Guy and responding to fans. Here’s what he had to say:
“Grownups force their children on me,” Isaacs said and then laughed. “They’ll tell their children that I play Lucius Malfoy, and the children say, ‘No, you don’t.’ And then the adult goes, ‘Do the voice, do the voice!’ So I do the voice and the child says, ‘That’s not what he sounds like!’ And then I want the earth to swallow me up.”
That is HILARIOUS! I love that the kids won’t believe it’s really him!
Jason Isaacs reveals secret Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince scene!
September 11, 2008 by Wendy Boswell
Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy, has said previously that he was kind of bummed not to be in the sixth Harry Potter movie. After all, it WOULD be kind of weird for him to show up, since he’ll be in Azkaban with his fellow Death Eaters doing whatever Death Eaters do in Azkaban (knit? Make pottery ashtrays? Write nasty letters to Harry Potter?).
Anyway, in an interview with MTV, Jason has revealed that he will actually be in a VERY quick cameo in Half-Blood Prince! Here’s what he had to say:
“It absolutely killed me,” he said of Lucius’ disappearance.
It would take a strong bit of magic to turn that frown upside down. Luckily for Isaacs, Harry Potter has that in spades.
“I’m not [really] in the film [but] I did one day. I went in for a day,” Isaacs revealed to MTV News of a secret cameo he gets to make in the movie. “I’m a moving portrait on the wall.”
Okay, Gryffindors - WHERE do you think this moving portrait is? I’m guessing we see him flit briefly in Slughorn’s office. What do you think?
It’s true - Lucius Malfoy will not be in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

In a recent interview with Coming Soon, Jason Issacs confirmed that Lucius Malfoy won’t be in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Here’s the interview (just a little bit, it’s kinda long):
CS: What was it like to pick up the final “Harry Potter” book when it came out and not know what was in there, especially for you?
Isaacs: I’m not quite strong enough to pick up a book of that weight. I had a couple of people to help me, and a winch. The secret can be out now. Before it came out I wasn’t quite sure – there was a point where I wasn’t sure I was going to do anymore because there wasn’t much for me to do in number five and I wasn’t in number six. I met Jo Rowling for the first time at a big awards dinner. I went over and basically fell to my knees and said “Get me out of prison, I beg you.” She looked over her shoulder and looked back at me mouthing “You’re out. Chapter One.” And that was it, that’s all I had to know, and I signed up immediately.
And here’s another great bit where he talks about Daniel, Emma and Rupert:
CS: Can you talk about how they have matured over the years? How have they stayed grounded through all of this?
Isaacs: In the beginning all of us grownups got to patronizing a little bit. Now they have gotten a thousand hours more screen time than any of the rest of us put together – and bank balances to match. They are not just very accomplished actors, they’re very seasoned and mature individuals. They have learned to handle this very enormous stress and this kind of global fame. Frankly, I marvel at how well they have turned out as human beings. Like the mystery of “Harry Potter” and the magical alchemy that happens in the stories, the scripts and the books, something very magical has happened to those young people because by rights they should have turned into monsters, but they are still delightful to be around.
It makes sense that he won’t be in HBP because if I remember right he’s in Azkaban, correct? I need to re-read that book. :>)
First look at Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

When you think of Lucius Malfoy, what immediately comes to mind? The words “pompous”, “Death Eater”, “nice hairdo” probably, right? Well, the first screengrab of Lucius “Only my hairdresser knows for sure” Malfoy has surfaced, and you can see it here: First look at Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Very highbrow, don’t you think?
Unlike this unfortunate video:
I suggest you get this song in your head the next time Lucius Malfoy gets all Death Eater on ya. Kind of takes the wind out of his sails!
Jason Isaacs talks about playing Lucius Malfoy -”pure Nazi evil”
February 15, 2007 by Wendy Boswell

What a fun interview this sounds like:
"When he did return to the scowling world of the evil-doer, it was in the most high profile of ways in the most high profile of films; playing prominent Deatheater Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. While talking about this role, Isaacs turns into what can only be described as a big kid: "It’s obscene that I get paid," he beams, "people should complain. I’ve got a four-year-old, she’s got a dress-up box in her room and nothing touches Lucius Malfoy. She’s got fairies and wizards and witches and superheroes, and nothing touches it. I get there and I say ‘Can I have a cane with a wand inside it? Can I have a cape? Do you think I could have a belt with a snake’s head on it? Do you think I can blast that wall and it blows open and I walk through it?’ It’s absurd a man of my age doing that stuff. And then you get there and realise you’re doing scenes with Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter. I look at the call sheet and they’re going to be there today, I’m going to get to talk to them. Before you know it you’re having lunch and sharing HP sauce. It’s fantastic."
"If you’re someone like me," he continues "who finds work enjoyably tortured – I’m constantly niggling away trying to make it better and realer and more three-dimensional – it’s nice to leave all that at home and turn up at Harry Potter and just be unalloyed Nazi evil."

Lucius Malfoy - The Deatheater

What is my fascination with Lucius Malfoy? He’s so utterly revolting, yet ever scene he’s in he totally steals. What do you think?
