Well, this is an interesting story. Apparently, at an animal shelter in the UK, a larger than average number of owls is being abandoned, and the Harry Potter books are being blamed. People have been buying them as pets for their kids, and not surprisingly, they don’t work out too […]

Scientists have replicated a Harry Potter invisibility cloak!

Now this is wild:
Carnegie Mellon University’s Michael Bockstaller and Krzysztof Matyjaszewski have created a version of Harry Potter’s famed “invisibility cloak” for nanoparticles.
Through a collaborative effort, researchers from the departments of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemistry have developed a new design paradigm that makes particles invisible.
