Whoo hoo! Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has beaten all midnight openings of all time, pulling in $20 million during its midnight run at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, according to early estimates. That’s a lot of galleons!

According to sources, these numbers beat the $18 million earned by the latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, which is also a film by Warner Bros. The next best film was 20th Century Fox’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith with $17 million.
