I thought it would be fun here at the Gryffindor Gazette to have a little contest. I have TWO brand spankin’ new copies of The Spiderwick Chronicles to give away. Don’t know what this movie is about? I’m going to buck the trend here and say Snape. He seems to be the most complex character - it takes more thinking to figure him out. Sure, a lot of the others would be more fun to hang out with in real life, but if I only wanted real life, I wouldn’t be reading and watching Harry Potter!

My favourite charachter is Ron. What I like the most about him is how he is a true Gryffindor. Unlike Harry and Hermione, who are naturally brave, Ron isnt. Yet, he has proven himself to be braver than even Harry and Hermione at times. Also, as Ron and I are both Pisces, I can relate to his charachter, feelings, emotions. But the thing I like most about Ron is that he’s not perfect, he knows it, and he wouldnt have it any other way. He will be my overall favourite carachter for life.

I have read all the Harry Potter books and I must say this is a tough desicision for me. Of course I would pick Harry it seems, because he is the hero who finds a way to beat the odds and win. But looking back on my long nights of reading, I beleive it was Ron who gave me the most laughs late at night.

Harry Potter is my favorite character. From his akward, underdog beginnings he perseveres through physical and emotional trials; even when things seem bleak. His problem solving skills, his willingness to be a friend as well as trust and rely on his friends, and his caring/protective nature won me over and set a good example for our youth.

Sirius Black. He is misunderstood, in the beginning Harry thinks of him as a killer but as they get to know each other, he becomes a father figure. He even dies trying to protect Harry.
