Geraldine Somerville talks about her role as Lilly Potter

Sixty Six - UK Premiere

Geraldine Somerville, the VERY talented actress who plays Lilly Potter in all the Harry Potter films, talked to the Sun this weekend about playing Lilly. Here’s what she had to say:

It was in 2001’s Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone that she first appeared as the boy wizard’s mother Lily Potter.

But Geraldine admits the role isn’t as exciting as it seems, because Lily appears to Harry only occasionally from beyond the grave.

She added: “I kind of found it quite frustrating. When I first got the part I was really excited, thinking ‘Yessss, Harry Potter’s mum, this is going to be great’ and then I read the books . . . ‘Oh, OK, so she’s dead’.”

LOL! Well, I think she does a stellar job of playing Lilly. That bit in Deathly Hallows (STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T READ DH, PLEASE!) where Harry is about to give up his life, and his mom and dad are there, and he asks his mom if she’s going to be with him….OMG. Seriously, that’s about when I lost it for real in Deathly Hallows. Cried for an hour.
