Robert Pattinson, who played Cedric Diggory, is making his way again on the silver screen, this time in an adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s popular book “Twilight”. He spoke to MTV about his experiences with Harry Potter:

MTV: You’re the only actor to appear in both the “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” universes. Is Stephenie Meyer’s material meatier, in your opinion?

Pattinson: In a lot of ways. My character certainly is [more substantial] than the character I played in “Harry Potter” [Cedric Diggory], mainly because the entire thing is based on Edward’s character and who he is. He is very tortured and conflicted, which is very different from what I played in “Harry Potter.” But it’s a completely different style of book.

MTV: How so?

Pattinson: “Twilight” is a first-person narrative. It’s very obsessive, and it’s a much more personal book, I think, than “Harry Potter” is, in a lot of different ways. There are only two characters pretty much in the trilogy. Well, I guess three, but essentially two. It’s just about a love story rather than a massive adventure and an entire world. It’s set as much as possible in the real world, so it’s different. - source

I have to admit, I haven’t read any of these books, but they look really good. Any readers out there who want to comment? Should I give ‘em a try?

Um, if only so that you know what the “twilight” cultural phenomenon is all about…yes, you should read these books. And if you like somewhat addictive teen obsessive romance with action and mythical creatures, you’ll like these books. Start reading them now and you’ll be ready for the 4th book when it comes out on August 2nd.

The Twilight books are amazing! Of course, I don’t think that they’re better than the Harry Potter books, but I would highly recommend reading the first three. Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the series, comes out on August 2nd. Before you start the series, however, just keep in mind that these books are very addicting! I read the three books in three days. Hope this helps!

I have very much enjoyed the first three Twilight books, really excellent. You have to read them in the state of mind that they differ completely from the Harry Potter books, so you can’t really compare them.

YESS!!! You should totally read the Twilight series. I mean I am still for Harry Potter all the way, but Twilight is amazing, and I think you would really enjoy it and the rest of the series :)

They are very different in a lot of ways than harry potter, but they are soo good.
The only books I like to read are Harry Potter and Twilight. there’s so much suspense in both of them. its great.

Ummm. . . I read them and they were nice but nothing like the thrilling, adventurous world of Harry Potter. I read them because a friend reccomeded them but if you don’t read them you are not missing anything worth while.

Harry Potter will always be my favorite book series, but the Twilight books are AMAZING!!! Totally different from Harry Potter, except that they both have mythical creatures. So definitely, you should read them. :)

the twilight series is amazing!!!! i thought i would never say this, but i personally think it’s better than harry potter. don’t kill me, though! twilight is a lot more personal, i guess because it’s written in first person. it only took me three days to finish the first 3 books, and i’m sure i can finish the fouth (breaking dawn) in a day as well! only 7 days till the release!!

i still love harry potter, too!!!! <3

NO! DO NOT read Twilight. It is without a doubt the worst-written novel I’ve ever read. The characters are two-dimensional, and the lines are cheesy. Bella is what fanfic writers call a “Mary Sue”. She’s beautiful, she’s perfect, and everyone loves her. Why? Because she’s Stephanie Meyer’s paper-and-ink copy. The whole love affair between Bella and Edward is ridiculous and stupid. There’s no evidence to show how they fell so madly in love, and the whole heroic Edward/damsel Bella thing gets old REALLY fast. This book is a waste of time. It may offer a cute scene or two, but that’s really all it has. The plot is linear and completely banal, the characters are stupid and unbelievable, the dialogue is on the nose and cheesy, and everything in between sounds like it was written by a 14-year-old.
I am flaberghasted everytime I hear someone call her the next JK Rowling. Meyer is NOT a brilliant writer by any means, and her novels (if you could call them that) are terrible in their own right, but even worse when compared to the Potter series.
Don’t waste your time on this drivel, and PLEASE don’t be brainwashed into thinking it’s some sort of masterpiece. It really could have been written by some pre-teen, what with its romanticized and unrealistic view of love, its God-awful characters and its monotone narrative style.

ITS A ROMANTIC NOVEL WHAT DO U EXPECT THE NOVEL TO BE LIKE. MEYER IS A GREAT WRITER IN HER OWN WAY N JK AS WELL. THEY HAVE A DIFFERNT WRITING STYLE. DONT DISS THE BOOK AND DONT JUDGE IT BEFORE U READ IT.
