Harry Potter is being blamed for growing number of abandoned owls

Well, this is an interesting story. Apparently, at an animal shelter in the UK, a larger than average number of owls is being abandoned, and the Harry Potter books are being blamed. People have been buying them as pets for their kids, and not surprisingly, they don’t work out too well. Here’s what the shelter director had to say:

“Harry Potter was definitely one of our biggest downfalls.

“People have been phoning up rescue centres, wanting to buy an owl for their children.

“Owls just aren’t suitable as pets and while they are generally friendly, they do have their off days and can bite.

“They can quite easily take your eye out or ear off.”

I’m sorry, but HOW STUPID do you have to be, seriously, to buy an owl as a pet for your kid? Just buy ‘em a freaking kitten and get on with it!

I totally agree with you. Parents stop being so darn gullible when it comes to buying gifts for your kids! Think BEFORE you purchase. When it doesn’t work out don’t blame it on someone else. Is someone else raising your kids or is it you??!!
