Looks like John Williams will be scoring Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!
And they couldn’t have picked someone better, in my opinion! WAYYY down in a big article about the Indiana Jones soundtrack was this little snippet:
Williams, now 76, was conductor of the Pops from 1980 to 1993. According to industry reports, he remains a busy man, with soundtracks for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “Jurassic Park IV,” and “Superman: Man of Steel” all scheduled for his touch. - source
Here’s a fun selection of some of John Williams’ soundtracks:

Sorry to disappoint, but Half Blood Prince is being scored by Nick Hooper, who is a long time collaborator with David Yates, and scored Order of the Phoenix as well. Here is his IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0393781/ John Williams composed certain reoccurring themes in the harry potter films, namely the ‘Harry Potter theme’ which I assume will be used in all the films, and the writer of the article must have assumed the credit meant that he was scoring the new film, but the original music will be scored by Nick Hooper. I thought he did a fantastic job with Order of the Phoenix and personally can’t wait to hear his soundtrack to the new film.
