Official plot summary for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”
We all know that the movie is going to be cut - a lot - but you can get a sense of what exactly is going to hit the cutting room floor in this official summary of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”:
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
I think they might have meant to use the word “simmering”, not “simpering”. I don’t remember Hermione EVER stooping to “simper”!

maria, whats with the 1256 days? is that like Deathly Hallows movie day? once HBP is out on DVD and out of theaters, we will have to wait a LONG TIME until more potter news. that is thouroughly depressing. so it the thought that we have about 230 days until the movie. ug

how do u get the 1256? the dates arent even out yet for DH movies… only the months– w/e still totally depressing that we have to wait that long but i suppose the films will be worth the wait… i’ll tide myself over w/ the other movies and the books i guess

I find Horace Slughorn’s infatuation with Lily rather extreme. He makes way too many comments about her eyes and how much he liked her. What did Dumbledore know about this relatioship that made him use Harry at the beginning of the book to convince Slughorn to teach at Hogwars and again to use Harry to get Slughorn’s memory? Was there something in Slughorn’s memory here when he was 57 when he took Felix Felice that anything to do with Lily? The continual reference to her eyes echo of someone who loved her - as Snape was asking Harry to look at him -so he could see Lily’s eyes as his dying wish. Was Slughorn in love with Lily? Was it the reason he left teaching at Hogwarts after being there so many years?
