Where do you think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows should be cut?
Okay readers: with yesterday’s news that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows being cut into two parts, now comes the really hard part: where should they split it? Let’s discuss this. Here are a few options:
- After the death and funeral of Dobby at Shell Cottage. They could even pan away with Dobby’s gravestone and Luna’s words: “”Thank you so much, Dobby, for rescuing me from that cellar. It’s so unfair that you had to die, when you were so good and so brave. I’ll always remember what you did for us. I hope you’re happy now.”" However, this might be way too far into the book. What do you think?
- Right after the destruction of the first Horcrux. Ron’s return (and Ron saving Harry from the water), followed by the mental struggle with the piece of Voldemort’s soul, could make a nice combination of suspense and a first bit of success that would give a good ending. Plus, the absolute RELIEF that we get from Hermione and Harry that Ron comes back is a huge boost to the darkness of the film.
- Right after Ron leaves. This would be a very LOTR way to leave it, in my opinion.

I am not really sure where it should be split up. but i think after Dobby dies would be a nice cliffhanger. then again right after Ron leaves would be suspenseful as well. either way they decide, I’m glad its being split into 2 parts, it makes the most sense and it will also prolong our goodbye to Harry and the wizarding world….which I’m most thankful for lol

Honestly to make a big impact,it should be cut right before the big battle. From that point on,could make a two hour movie in itself!

my vote is right after ron leaves. yes, i’m cold blooded, but it would gaurentee that every single person in the theater would come back six months later. i can just see it — the nerd that i am. ron storms out, and emma chases after him, and probably dan should go for good measure, and after a couple of minutes in the rain, they give up. “he’s ga-gone…” and it would end emma crying. perfect! why aren’t i director?!?

i actually think they should end it right after malfoy manor– actually right after you find dobby has been killed… i think that would be a good cliffhanger… but of course what do i know? after his funeral would be fine too. i’m just glad they split it!!!

haha taylor- i guess you’re right… but although i know tons about harry potter (and i know YOU know) there are other people on this site who know more ~8-D i think ron leaving is a good idea but i’m still going for dobby

I think the movie should be split when Ron comes back even though it might not be a good cliffhanger, cuz the movie will be properly split in two because of that. i dunno how they will create the magic but best of luck to them!!!

i like right after ROn leaves, and i especially agree with taylor - it would be perfect! i actualy had another idea that me and my friend like - end the first part at Malfoy Manor with Hermione screaming! i think that would also be really good!
but honestly, one of the things i’m most excited about is seeing a huge ‘to be continued’ in Harry Potter letters

If they want a big cliffhanger, they could stop when the trio is abducted by the Snatchers and taken to Malfoy Manor. When Bellatrix takes Hermione upstairs could even work. That way the second movie opens with a tense actiony moment. Or even stop when the apparate away with Dobby and start the second when the appear at Shell Cottage when he dies. There are lots of different place that would work; but it all depends on what other stuff they cut/add to them. I’m sure whatever they pick will work well.
