Yates, who succeeded Alfonso Cuarsn to direct the fifth movie ‘Order Of The Phoenix’, is currently working on the penultimate film ‘Half-Blood Prince’, which is due for release later this year.
Now children’s author Lois Lowry has fuelled speculation he has been signed up to tackle the last Potter movie by revealing the Yates has pulled out of filming an adaptation of her book ‘The Giver’ in order to concentrate on the blockbuster series.
She writes on her internet page: “He (Yates) has just decided he wants to do the final Harry Potter first, thereby postponing ‘The Giver’ for several years.”
A representative for Warner Bros. tells MTV.com there is “nothing official yet” but an announcement is expected “within the next week or two”.

Well, he did such an incredible job on Phoenix that I’m excited to see what he will do with Hallows. A good choice!

Im not so sure about this choice…I think I will have a better opinion after HBP comes out but until then I am a bit dissapointed. David Yates left out HUGE amounts of important detail from the 5th movie (ie- he didnt include the 2 way mirror from sirius aka a key part in book 7) and I dont want to see the 7th movie skimped. cause the book was SO GOOD!!! So i hope he can do it but i am not so optimistic

Not to sure about this either! I didn’t think the 5th movie was as good as the 4th! I liked the humor in the 4th movie but i now think the movies should be getting darker and more explaining needs to be done!
