The Gryffindor Gazette

Harry Potter casting call fraud advisory

by Wendy on January 24th, 2008

This was just posted on the official Warner Brothers Harry Potter film site:

Several emails have been circulated during the past few months which purport to be casting calls for upcoming Harry Potter films. The emails are a hoax. Many of these emails request personal information, some request payment and certain some have a subject line of “YOU ARE SELECTED” or something similar. Again, these emails are completely fraudulent. It is not Warner Bros.’ practice to engage in casting activity through general emails. We have been, and will continue to, work with law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and are taking action to reach as many fans as possible to warn them of this scam.

Just an FYI, I know a lot of you who read Gryffindor Gazette keep track of Harry Potter casting calls (Lavendar Brown is a good example).

I would love to get a chance at a real audition, or casting call. A chance at all to be in such a great film, maybe the one of the upcoming Deathly Hollows films.

I would be forever grateful to have an opportunity like this
