What are the most tragic deaths in the Harry Potter series?

I just found this interesting article that talks about JUST the deaths in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

1.
Fred Weasley:
I think he definitely was the most tragic and unexpected. He had just broken through to Percy who had not talked to them in a long time and then with a smile on his face he dies.
2.
Dobby:
He was a very good and faithful house elf to Harry and risked his life to save his (not that no one else did) but he really came through in the direst time (when Harry was caught and at the Malfoy’s)
3.
Snape:
I didn’t much appreciate him through every other book but this one when he turns about to be about the most loyal man in the whole book. He infiltrated Voldemort’s own ranks so well that his own side thought he was a death eater.
4.
Tonks:
She was lively and young and had a life to live out with Lupin her new husband. Her death was tragic because she was such a lively character.
5.
Mad Eye:
I had trouble choosing between him and Lupin but I had to choose him because of the fact that he, such a great wizard, died so quickly. He was killed almost instantly when he left the ground on Harry’s escort mission.

I would love to hear your thoughts on who you thought was the most tragic death in ALL seven books. Personally, I think my choice would be Cedric Diggory; I can barely watch that scene where his dad finds out he has been murdered, it’s utterly heart-wrenching. Gosh, I get kind of choked up just thinking about it. :>)

    yeh the scene wen his father finds out is suck a tear jerker..ud think i knew the cub
    um al dem wer tear jerkers! colin creevey 2..ino we didnt see how he died but it was just such a shock and the way he looked up to harry as an idol! lupin and tonks because of the fact they just had a child together! Fred because of george..:(:( Snape because i wouldve liked to av seen what would have happened when the war was over between him and harry! Dobby because he worshiped the ground harry walked on and was so loyal!

    1. Sirius
    I love him. And how much it hurt Harry to lose him. He was in a way, the only last connection to his father that he had. Harry, knowing that Sirius was his fathers best friend, he can tell Harry what his father was like and revel in old stories. I cried soo much when this happend. I could hardly breathe.

    He was just a innocent death. And yes, as you had already said… Amos’s reaction was literally heart breaking :[ I just wanted to hug him and not let go. And Harry’s reaction of not moving off Cedric’s body.. aw >

    I agree that Fred’s death was tragic. But I thought the death of Serious Black was the most tragic. He spends 12 years of hell in prison, having his soul sucked. Then he finally gets out, only to still be suspected of killing all those people. And after such tragedy, he finally meets Harry, gets to know him and have some semblance of family in his life - then he dies. It was just very tragic and horrible.

    you know…all of them,especially Sirius,i cried for all of therm alot!:D!and Snape…i didnt expect sth like that!

    how could you forget sirius and dumbledore? i cried the most when sirius died because he was pretty much all harry had. dobby’s death was very sad too!

    2.Lupin
    3.tonks
    4.dobby
    5.colin creevy
    6.dumbledore
    7.sirius
    8.SNAPE!!!! big shock
    9.FRED
    10.mad-eye
    11.Rufus Scigomre even though he was somewhat a a**
    then when HARRY had the near death
    i put the book down for 5min.

    i am only just finishing the 6th book, but personallly so far i think sirius & dumbledore are the mosttt tragic, dumbledore is just shockkking.
