More on Daniel Radcliffe’s next project: Journey
Daniel Radcliffe’s next project is titled “Journey”, and it’s a story about murdered journalist Dan Eldon. Here’s more information from Dan Eldon’s mother’s blog:
Daniel Radcliffe is perfect for the role. He’s young, hugely talented, he’s the right age and cares about issues, but most of all, he has a great sense of humor and will inject tremendous energy into the project. He has been playing a magician for a long time. Dan was a different kind of magician – able to activate souls like his hero, Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Secondly, a Reuters article:
Eldon’s mother Kathy told the Observer she’d met and turned down several other stars eager to play her son, but Radcliffe fits the bill perfectly because of the many parallels between the two - not least a global outlook, magic and poetry.
And for those looking for feel-good films about war, Journey seems to fit the bill. “The film is a teen coming of age story - entertaining, funny, dark at times - but ultimately triumphant,” Kathy is quoted as saying. “People will leave the cinema feeling inspired, thinking: “Oh my God, let me start living right now!” It won’t be pious. We’re not trying to idolise him or make him or a hero.”

you should look up December Boys then. Ive not seen it, but i have seen a preview for it, its a typical feel good movie about an orphan and his orphan siblings struggling with family reconsctruction. him being older, girls mix things up, and his anger at having to be in the position he is leaves him as the sort of devils advocate for the younger ones, etc. i think that we’ve already seen plenty how radcliffe can display an ability to survive without blood family, albeit in a fantasy setting, but never the less, a bit redundant.
something else that struck me as incredibly blatant was the work of his agents questionable involved in his role in equus. i can see the role arriving on his mind via michael gambon, who no doubt has been in the know of it since its creation, or a stunt to burn off the preconceptions he has been burdened with from his role as the innocent and heroic potter.
meh,
celebrity is a terrible subject.
