Tom Felton discusses gay Dumbledore

tom-felton.pngIn this video, Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, discusses JK Rowling’s recent outing of Dumbledore as a gay man. Overall, he is utterly flabbergasted that Dumbledore is actually gay, didn’t see it coming, and that he found it somewhat hard to believe.

    first time i’ve seen him that blonde in an interview, of course iv seen it like that in the films though =)
    and Dumbledore being gay isn’t that surprising really. Michael Gambon acts a bit gay in the films. But reading the book, you would never think of him being gay =) xx

    Wow, he’s really changed now, didn’t he? I mean, I hadn’t ’seen him’ for a while and now he’s got such hair… so… BLONDE. He looks really adultish now, doesn’t he? But, I mean, isn’t he like 20 or something already?

    But for me too, I didn’t see this Dumbledore-gay thing coming. But I got really freaked out afterwards I knew about it and read his lines in the books… I just felt his ‘gayness’ or what…

    um, Snape The Potions Master, if the author of Harry Potter says that Dumbledore is gay, I’m pretty sure that means that he is in fact a homosexual. I mean look at the subtle hints throughout the books, like his high heeled boots and his infatuation with Gellert Grindelwald. Read between the lines man, read between the lines. :D

    Ok first off I LOVE TOM!!!! Ok just had to get that out there lol

    Second I don’t really think that J.K. Rowling seriously planned for Dumbledore to be gay in the beginng! I think when she finally finished the last book she realized that after that her fame would intionaly fade away. SOOOOOOOOOOOO what does she do? She starts up this whole thing that Dumbledore is gay! When most likely if she planned it out that way she would have made it more noticeable in the books.

    creo que ese no es Tom, es una farza que inventan. cuando aca en argentina salga Tom y diga que es Gay, lo creere pero por mientras no voy a creer en nada, puede ser cualquiera haciendose pasar por Tom Felton. En este mundo hay muchas personas que son super envidiosas, asi que no me extrañarian que se hagan pasar por otras para arruinarles la carrera.
    Me parece que estan muy Mal.

    To Rozanna, i promise u that J. K. Rowling said Dumbledore was gay, if u don’t belive me go look it up 4 urself. And hello, if u haven’t read the last book u should, Snape is sooooo not gay, hes always loved Harry’s mom, Lily, so there.

    As for gay Dumbledore, my friends and I kept making jokes about that when the seventh book was out, but none of us thought it as real. Guess I was shockedat first, but I seem to be used to it now.

    Random: I LOVE british accent, sounds even more beautiful comming from his lips, haha.

    Honestly who cares is Dumbledore is gay it adds more depth to hi character anyways, plus theres nothing wrong with being gay so why is there such a heated arguement about and thridly i love harry potter but in the end its just a book.

    tom felton is so damn sexy, eving with his acne on his face. i think the fact that he plays malfoy, who is the god of hotness, makes him even more attractive.

    dumbledore being gay stuff. i swore he and Mcgonigal had a thing gong on. they were so cute together i swear i should write a fanfiction. i kinda think Jo just did that for some media. considering as she has all literature and media @ her feet, not sure WHYU she did that. i mean c’mon. the thing with Grindelwald, dude, a member of his family just died! he needed a friend!!! dumbledore in movie acted gay, but nope. not in books. i really hope the movies wont spend anytime on that aspect. sigh. still waiting for a tralier…

    look, the dumbeldore in the book could NOT be gay. come on, he n mcgonagal were just freinds. but the thing bout the real dumbeldore being gay is just,well, kinda hard to beleive.

    Dumbledore is gay. J.K. Rowling outed him herself, as a response to a fan’s question at a signing. The media pretty much follow her every step, hence all the coverage. Now, I’ll admit, I was surprised myself. I didn’t see it coming; I don’t think most of us did. But, now that I think about it, some of his oddities, like his sense of style and whatnot, would make sense, and things kind of click into place.

    Now, the imagined romance with Professor McGonagall could be explained if we look at it through practical eyes. They’ve known each other for a very long time now, and have been friends for the same duration of time. They must be very comfortable with themselves and each other by then to have a nice friendship that had us all jumping to conclusions. It’s like, if you have a best friend that you have known since the beginning of time, it seems, and you don’t mind laying your head on their shoulder, or linking arms, or displaying affection in those small ways. Doesn’t it irk you when somebody you don’t really know walks by and smiles and says ‘What a cute couple’? Probably. Perhaps it was the same for Dumbledore and McGonagall.

    Seriously, people. Get a grip. Stop acting like a bunch of ten year olds and mature a little. Dumbledore. Is. Gay. JK Rowling said so herself, so obviously she views him in this way in her mind, which I trust seeing as her mind created this world we know speak so dearly of. Have some faith, people.

    The thing that I keep hearing (and find truly funny) is people saying “he CAN’T be gay!”. Why not? Because he doesn’t act gay? Sorry to inform you guys, but not every homosexual is flamboyant and judging his position in power and the ministry’s constant meddling, looking for half a reason to hate the man, I’d say it made sense that he kept it extremely low profile.

    Not every gay man’s going to let himself be known.

    Hey, seeing as how I’m a guy, I’ll decline stating my opinion on Tom Felton. Although, I do recognize a good product when I see it. Moving on to Dumbledore being gay, cool, why not? As someone said, it adds another depth to the character, and in reply to some people’s post: What the hell would be wrong with him being gay? He’s beyond most of your ages anyway if you really wanted to date him.
    Lastly: You’re all obsessed!
    btw: it was J.K. Rowling who confirmed Dumbledore’s orientation, so I guess that opinion might be worth something.

    hahaha. has no one ever noticed how JKR is CONSTANTLY describing just about everything dumbledore wears as FLAMBOYANT!?! lol. of course i too just thought he was a weird old man. but instead it turns out he’s just a typical gay man. and like how he says he loves knitting patterns and what not. there are TONS of clues. we just never recognized them for what they are before. i think she’s always planned this.

    okay this is hilarious. i’ve read all of these and the only thing that everyone seems to agree on is that Tom felton is a freaking sex machine (don’t get me wrong, if i ever met him i’d jump him and lick his face).

    but anyway about dumbledore. i’ve always seen hints in the book about his gayness. in the 6th nd 7th book especially my gaydar was going off the chart. but j.k rowlings didn’t have to make it more obvious. i think that was one of her many hidden things in the books. like how i always felt that draco had a crush on hermione but never acted on it because of the whole mudblood thing

    but maybe it’s just me

    i think the problem is that you guys all have very stereotypical views of what a gay man actually should be. and if you try to view dumbledore in this way it just dosent fit and it shouldnt because he dose not match the stereotypes.

    gays come in all different shapes n sizes they are all NOT flamboiant, have a sence of fashion, girly ect

    i myself am gay and nobody would ever expect it. i play football and look like a man and know absolutely NOTHING about fashion. being gay dose not mean u act a certain way it means you are attracted to the same sex, attraction dose not make a person who they are it is a small part of their person as a whole

    also the reason j.k rowling didnt emphasis this to the extreme in the books is because it had no relevance to the story whatsoever its a personal part of dumbldoors life and it stayed that way. its not like she could have just sliped it in a random sentance or anything without it looking suss and unnessasary.

    just because it is not obvious does not mean that someone is not gay, i personally know someone who is one of the biggest jocks that i know who happens to be gay and if you met him you would swear that he is not so there is no reason to say that JK Rowling is lying besides the way i heard it she said that she pictured Dumbledore as gay which is her right especially because he is a character that she made up

    and yes JK did say that dumbledore is gay. and when she said it, the audience (after a teeny stunned silence) gave her a standing ovation.

    and for those who say that she did it for attention - you’re wrong! she wrote all the plans for the books from the very end with only a fab idea in mind… so if dumbledore was gay at the end, he’s been gay all the way…

    and sorry to disappoint you ladies… both tom felton and i are in the uk whereas you lot aren’t haha

    and i agree with ASHER (comment posted Jan 3rd 08) that he had an infatuation with Gellert Grindlewald…

    GAH!!!kinda creepy….dumbledore being gay…definitely didnt see that one coming….i thought that him and mcgonagall had a little sum sum going on but i guess thats out the window.lol…at least he didnt talk about his homosexicalness with anybody in the books….that might have been a weensy bit disturbing :P…hah….well i guess were all just going to have to suck it up and get on with life….well survive…i guess….lol….jeez people…SUCK IT UP!!! its not the end of the world….well maybe it is but still…lol…

    I dont think it chages anything in the story so it’s not a big deal! i only thikn that what was good in harry p. is that there were non accurate politic opinion or facts or anything but to bring that in…i think it takes off a bit of the magic. But so what dumbeldore is gay…OUhhh big deal. Nobody really cares, nor do I.
    SO blimey why does everybody reacted so much?
