Casting call announced for Lavender Brown

by Wendy on June 25th, 2007

lavendar_brown.pngWho is Lavender Brown?

The best friend of Parvati Patil, Lavender tends to squeal and giggle a lot, and generally gives the impression of being silly; she’s keen on Divination, for instance, having been convinced of Trelawney’s powers after a vague prediction on the first day of class turned out (from one point of view) to have predicted the death of her pet rabbit, Binky (PA8). (Note that she didn’t bring Binky to Hogwarts with her, although the rule about cats, owls, and toads only isn’t mentioned.)

In their fifth year, Lavender initially believed the Daily Prophet’s insinuations about Harry, but Hermione shut her up (OP12).

Lavender attended the Yule Ball with Seamus Finnigan (GF22, OP11). Later during her sixth year, she managed to attract Ron and they had a hot and heavy relationship.

Lavender’s saving grace is that she had the courage to be chosen for Gryffindor; during Hagrid’s disastrous experiment to determine whether Blast-Ended Skrewts hibernated (they do not), Lavender, far from fleeing with the Slytherins, stayed to help and got burned (GF22). Unlike Seamus, Lavender joined Dumbledore’s Army when it first formed (OP16).

Producers of the sixth Harry Potter film will hold an open casting call for the role of Lavender Brown, the sycophantic drama queen who becomes Ron Weasley’s first girlfriend.

Auditions will be held July 1 at Earls Court Exhibition Center in London.

On July 8, producers of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will start their search for a teenage boy to play Tom Riddle, who grows up to be the evil dark wizard Lord Voldemort.

Applicants must have identification to prove they are from Britain and are between the ages of 15 and 18.

Last year, about 15,000 girls lined up at open casting calls to audition for the roles of Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang for “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” which will be released next month.

The roles went to Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna, and Katie Leung, who plays Cho.

Lynch said she was stunned when she heard she’d gotten the part.

“I hoped it, but I didn’t go so far as to think it,” she said. “I knew everything about Luna. She was my favorite. I explored her.”

If you audition for Lavender Brown do you need to be of a certain ethnic race??? Just wondering as i am a white female and believe that Lavender Brown’s Character is not!! pelase write back xx

  • Emily
    Jun 27, 2007 at 10:43

Lavender Brown, I assume, is white.
Please, I am not being racist at all, I would love the character as much as I do if she was ethnic.
Her character strikes me as white, so I’ll see you at the casting call Jess.

P.s I have no idea what they are looking for, this is solely my opinion. Any one who is of an ethnic race, please don’t let this stop you from auditioning. Nothing is definate untill they cast the part!

I know this is probably a very frequently asked question, but I was curious as to the “Applicants must have identification to prove they are from Britain.” I’m not british, I come from a small hick town in Indiana. However I have played several roles that have required british accents and have become rather skilled in that area. So my question is do you really have to be a british vet. to audition for the part of Lavender Brown?

does it make a difference if your 15 because i’d love to be lavender brown and have only just turned 15 i don’t know if you’d prefer someone older.

  • Sara

Hello, I am an august child which means I am 14 but soon turning 15, would this mean I would not be considered?

I would love to play the part of Lavender Brown, but I am 14. I also live in Texas, but I don’st have have a very strong accent. I think that I could do a pretty good British accent. I wish that you didn’t have to be British to try out though. Well, I guess I can keep dreaming though(but I really want that part):)

What u guys taking to the audition i.e. monologue, CV, photos etc? I might be going there, I’m kind of nervous to go… I’ve always hated the audition part but the thrill of actually getting and doing the job is awesome lol.

You must be from Britian, Ireland or Scotland unfortunatly. You will need to bring your passport to prove this, they are very strict with this. You will also have to be between 15-18 no younger, no older! I reckon this is going to be the biggest open casting call yet! See you all there!

To all those going to the audition, stay safe(sadly I can’t go). GOOD LUCK!

I was thinking about sending my information to them, but i am not from england. Do you think that if they would cast someone that they found to go well with the character, but they’re not from england?

  • Sarah
    Jul 2, 2007 at 05:17

You have to be from England to audition, but auitions are over now. Sorry, they are no longer taking applications. The auditions were so fun though. Over 7,000 girls turned up!

Does anyone know who got the Lavender Brown part?? I was going to go, even though i am 14 going on 15 but i wasn’t allowed to go [my mum doesn’t want me missing school…grrr] :) When will the actress[/lucky girl] be identified??

  • Sarah
    Jul 2, 2007 at 09:50

Not sure! Probably within the next two weeks. Shooting starts in september. Call backs from the open audition are today. So anyone who gets a call from the casting directors today will be going onto the next round.

  • Jessica
    Jul 7, 2007 at 11:38

Yeah, I have a strong accent, but it’s a put on one. I’m near Washington D.C. and I’m not sure how well they’ll take a D.C.er. I wish I could do it though. I’m going to be 15 next month and on the same say as Rupert so it would be nice if they took that into concideration. LOL

  • AnneMarie
    Jul 7, 2007 at 12:41

You don’t have to be from just England, you can be from Ireland, Scotland, or Wales too. I am 15 and was born in Spain but moved to Scotland when I was six. I can speak English with a Spanish or British accent. Do you like I could audition?

  • Sarah
    Jul 7, 2007 at 12:45

Auditions for Lavender Brown have now finished, casting calls were last weekend, and there will be a top 5 girls, each having to do a screen test with Rupert. Sorry to disapoint! But however auditions for Tom Riddle are tomorro. Earls Court, same times as the Lavender autiditions, so why not get all your friends to audition for that? You never know what will happen!

okay so it is really unfair that you have to be from london wlaes irlend or scotland:(
Because i live in australia(not in a big capital city) but we have a really good drama program at our small school and we are taught really well how to do accents!

But because we don’t live in the northen hemiphise we are excluded! So please if there are any new characters in book 7 please don’t hesitate to come to australia and look at very states cpaital city!because you never know how well we can impersonate the british! or there might be some new characters that don’t need britsh accents Thank you for listening! :)

  • .
    Jul 9, 2007 at 17:34

yer i agree with o_0 it isn’t fair to exclued none british people from the audition becasue you just don’t know until you really really look.

And i also agree with o_0 on the whole comming to AUS thing i live there (in victoria too!) and it would be really cool if in the deathly hallows movie(if there are any new characters)that you come to Australia to look aswell becasue younever know what you’ll find!

  • mariam

The reason they only take British/Scottish/Irish people is because J.K. Rowling said so. She didn’t want any Americans or any other people. Chris Columbus, the director of the first two films, put in his daughter as Susan Bones, and J.K. was, like, really mad and made him pull her out.

If this weren’t true, believe me, I’d have been first in line for the auditions. (:

  • Amanda

Did anyone who got through the auditions to do a screen test (Tom Riddle), know when they are meant to ring back? I’ve heard “next day” from some people and “up to a month” from other people. I just want to know when I should stop staring at my phone trying to will it to ring :(

    Jul 14, 2007 at 15:14

when well we know who lavender brown is, what if u have a british passport but live in the us or canada, can u still audition 4 anything? And what about romilda vane? aNY AUDITIONS 4 HER

  • Sarah
    Jul 15, 2007 at 03:40

The reason why there have been no casting calls in countries other then England, Scotland or Ireland, is simply because JK Rowling wants all the movies to have a full british cast. And also the casting directors simply do not have time to travel to other countries to find the cast. It doesn’t matter is you can speak with an english accent. If you are a british citizen living in another country then you can audition. I don’t think there will be any auditions for Romilda as, i think she has been cut from the movie. But you can keep a look out!

  • paul
    Jul 15, 2007 at 04:18

J.K made it clear from the start that she only wanted Brits, Steven Speilburg was the meant to be the original director an he wanted Haley Joel Osment (6th sense boy) to play Harry, but she wasn’t having any of it, so she found a new director…who found Daniel Radcliffe…(boo). But when I went they just checked your age an your nationality, so if your a British citizen in another country you’d be fine.

  • z
    Jul 15, 2007 at 10:57

Wut if u never lived or was born in england but have a british passport can u audition then? And so if your 14 almost 15 you cant audition or can you , and do you think there will be other auditions for lavender or its completly finished? And when will they find out who she is if ita the last audition there doing

Why not cast sixteen year old British actress Rachel Hurd Wood (Peter Pan, An American Haunting, Perfume) for the role of Lavender Brown?

  • Sarah
    Jul 15, 2007 at 11:08

All auditions for Lavender Brown have finished, they are in the process of choosing a top five girls, or so i believe. Yes to audition for would have to be 15, no younger. Don’t forget Rupert Grint is 18, so would be kinda wierd to pick a 14 year old for the part!

You cannot audition if you are not a Brit

  • anne
    Jul 25, 2007 at 08:41

All you people from the states just want to be Lavender just to make out with Rupert Grint. You will get laughed out of the auditioning room for your fake british accent. Especially if you are from TEXAS!

  • Dahlia
    Jul 25, 2007 at 09:30

Anne… It’s pretty mean of you to say that about people from the States. Many people from the States have amazing British accents that are very authentic. I highly doubt that they would get laughed out of the auditioning room. Your bitterness is suffocating.

  • Alice
    Jul 25, 2007 at 10:16

Well, Harry Potter is an english book. I know this sounds very harsh and a gross generalisation, but of the americans I have heard doing english accents- none of them can pull it off (cockney/snob it isn’t really english is it guys). And before you blow your tops at me, I recognise that certainly there will be an american person somewhere who can manage an english accent. However I think they wanted to keep an english cast so that the authentic britishness can shine through. I have not got a problem with american actors, I just think that the british public and writer probably will do.

  • c.
    Jul 25, 2007 at 10:18

to anne: Texans can pull off wonderful british accents. Just because you are british, i assume, doesn’t mean you are more superior than us. Cheers to the United States (and the British people who think we are equal to them, not below them.)

  • c.
    Jul 25, 2007 at 10:26

oh, and not everyone wants the part for the pleasure of hooking up with rupert. some just want to have the part for the sole purpose of being in harry potter.(i don’t really agree with that). and then some people REALLY want the job because they REALLY want to be actors.

  • Emily
    Jul 25, 2007 at 10:37

Well I dont believe that anyone could possibly be higher or lower than another country or race…its just absurd thinking that! Its unfair!

I REALLY want to be an actor…I feel that HP was my only chance of really getting myself out there and known…I was just too stupid and afraid of rejection from my parents…

It doesn’t look like there are going to be Romilda auditions, too many people are saying she doesn’t play that much of a part and so Ive missed my chance…so as you imagine Im a tad upset :(

  • Becky Bishop
    Jul 25, 2007 at 12:45

    Dear Anne & Dahlia:

Girls ….. calm down and be nice to each other. Remember, the greatest teaching of the Potter series is international and racial tolerance as well as fellowship. If JK Rowling would have written American characters into the books then there would be have been opportunities for American actors to have roles in the Potter films. The deal she made with Warner Bros is that all characters in the story be played by British actors being that all characters in the books are from the other side of the pond.

Anne: For you information, Rene Zellweger, a Texan, was nominated for an oscar for her wonderful performance as an outrageous British working girl in “Bridget Jones Diary” and don’t forget that American actress Gwenneth Paltrow actually won an Oscar for her performance in “Shakespeare In Love” and she also played British characters in “Sliding Doors” and “Sylvia”, or how about Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon in “Vanity Fair” and “The Importance of Being Earnest”. They all did terrific jobs playing British characters. It’s just that there are far more roles available playing American characters than there are for British characters, so why bother to cast American actors to play Brits? This is exactly why so many British actors jump at the chance of playing American roles whenever the opportunity presents itself and doing American accents so natural it’s as if they were actually born and raised in the USA. If you can manage to tear yourself away from the Harry Potter films for a minute you might want to get your hands on some films on dvd where the great Brit actors playing roles in the Potter films have done terrific jobs playing American characters. For instance Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) in “The Professional”, “State of Grace” and “Hannibal” or Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) in “Red Dragon” and “Maid in Manhattan”, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) in the wildy popular HBO series “Brotherhood”, Emma Thompson (Sybil Trelawny) in “Primary Colors” and “Dead Again”, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) in “Big Fish”, “Fight Club” and “Mighty Aphrodite”. I could on an on.

Someday you will grow up and the world of Harry Potter will take it’s place alongside “Star Wars” and “The Wizard of Oz”. Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe are already dying to get their hands on good juicy roles playing Americans. But for right now, Harry Potter is bloody good fun!

So, my advice for you aspiring young actresses is to keep an open mind, study Shapespeare as well as Tennessee Williams and do your homework. Acting is incredibally tough work. But most of all, start practicing those British and American accents!

    Peace,

    Becky

I’m from Canada and I love acting. I have been in several American/ Canadian commercials and when I was little I was in a Canadian tv show called “The Big Comfy Couch”. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, and I would love to audition for Deathly Hallows either as young Lily Evans or Fleur’s little sister. Do you know where and when the auditions will be held? Also, I understand that Heyday films will be producing the Molly Moon films. I would love to audition for that part as well and wondered where and when they were. Thanks

  • Alice
    Jul 25, 2007 at 13:55

    Becky-
Most of the casting oppurtunities for the Harry Potter films have taken place unfortunately and they were all pretty restricted to UK residents. The smaller parts wil generally be cast through agencies, however if there are casting oppurtunities they will most likely be open only to the UK. I understand that Heyday films have not released a date yet for the auditions and production of the Molly Moon series. Those auditions are pretty much guaranteed to be unrestricted as Molly travells to America and spends most of the book there.
    Hope this Helps Alice x

why is everyone fighting? Although i think that every nationality should be able to play the part, i am not going to get into this arguement totally. But i will post my opinion. Yeah it would be great if they chose an american to play the part (i being from texas and being proud from where i am from), but i think they choose genuine britians to have the film feel like the real thing -the book. (Although i have a very good british accent….but oh well). Just to point out to Anne though, americans can have great accents too. (Not every texan has a southern accent, i being one of them that doesn’t have a southern accent.)

    Alice:

Thank you so much for your very generous input. I am on a quest here in the States to raise awareness for young actors that there is hope for careers in acting (or music) as long as one is willing to grasp reality and realize the importance for taking responsilbity for one’s life and the need for proper education and training. We are, young and old, caught up in the magic of Harry Potter. However life will go on after Harry Potter and how quickly time will fly.

Here is the states we live with the heartbreaking daily news that our young talent (ie Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears) are being exploited first by their families and then by the media. It’s not their fault that their lives are ruined by too much temptation, money and freedom. In the UK there is proper training for children and sensible plans for families that are thinking about enrolling their children into theatre training. Young actors like Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have the necessary protection by sensible parents and strict laws that protect them from the temptations and exploitations from Hollywood. We don’t have that here in the states and this is exactly why talent such as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears will pretty much see their careers destroyed by the time they’re thirty. This doesn’t need to be the case.

Please use your awareness and sensibility to send this message to all the young fans of the Harry Potter series that there will be opportunities for young actors. You just have to wait until you’re at least 17. Harry tragically lost his youth and family and did not have the normal childhood other kids have. Is it too much to have to wait until you’re 18 to have an acting career? Afterall, you do have the rest of your life to look forward to.

    Bright blessings,

    Becky Bishop

OKay i get where jk is coming from when she asked it to be an all british cast so it gave british actors a chance becasue if you live in America you do have a good oppertunity becasue most of the dirctors and stuff live there.

But i also get how most people (aspiering young actors) would be disapointed

Now i’m not from England where you have a chance to be in the HP movies

I’m not from America where all the big hollywood stars live

I’m from australia A small country town in victoria Where if you wanted to be an actress your chances are slim to none

so i can understand peoples disapointment becasue all i’ve ever wanted to be is an actress but becasue of my location and my accent i can’t

but i’ll still try and find movies that don’t care what nationalty you are just as long as you can act!

its not that people are saying americans arnt good enough or anything like that… but why have americans trying to put on a british accent when you can just have people with real british accents!? americans have huge opportunities anyway people in britain and ireland rarely get chances like this… so get over it guys!!

I lovelovelovelovelove Rupert Grint! Hes very good looking but even his personality is great! ;]
even though 4 of the girls who get picked to be the top 5 wont make it, they are sill lucky as hell. Rupert has to kiss/sng each and every one of them so that the director can see which he looks best with. God , its not fair. I live in Canada and i wuldve loved to get that part ;[. Im a pretty good actress. AND I WOULD LOVE TO KISS RUPERT. hes like my idol. ahah . and i know how to do a fake british accent really well. Canada is under British Rule, so they should let us try out. Its completely unfair. oh well .. whoever gets to be those luky 5 girls -Congrats! you truley dont know how lucky you are

    Okay Many questions here.
    I have some answers lol.
JK rowling casts auditions for brits only RACIST!
    (Im British too).
Lavender brown auditions were on the first o0f july.. SHAME who missed it! Tom riddle auditons were on the 8th of july… i missed it!
Ahh well im only 13 14 in august..
You guys feel abit angry? upset?
    Yes the auditons have gone..
    I am gutted..
    Heres more bad news…
There may be no more auditions..
    Infact.. there wont be
    SHAME!!
    *crys*
Since the first HP film when i was young i wrote off to leavsden studios.. i wrote begging to have a private audition i did this after every HP movie..
    Sad isnt it?
    it is.. yes..
All the GRR people could send back were letters saying things like too many mail were sent in to the studios and basically they couldnt be bothered to read out my letter.
once again.. years later.. i come to find out if theres auditons? i miss them..
    remember people my age
daniel raddcliffe is older than us…
dont keep telling yourself “when im older”
when your older he’ll be older…
you always have to be around his age to be in the films.. cus you’ll have to be in his hogwarts school year.. you guys really dont know what being in atleast an open HP audition means to be.. anyone.. any info? im 13, 14 in august help? thanks for reading my lecture like any of you care…
    Thanks anyway x

  • elly
    Jul 27, 2007 at 16:28

Heeyy…i’ll agree with most of you ^^^ gutted about missing auditions or whateverr but PLEASEE…

Does anyone have a site or link of pictures of the 5 that got call backs? I AM FREAKING DESPERATEE…Lol. x

  • Alice
    Jul 28, 2007 at 13:07

    Lewis-
Jk is not being racist for gods sake, imagine how many teenagers there are who would jump at the chance of auditioning for the film (world wide) If the casting went to America for the few people over there who can pull off an english accent and look right etc. Then they would have to go to loads more countries too (fairness etc.) Also over 7000 people auditioned in the UK think how much larger america is! Odds are even then that a UK resident would be picked. As they are not putting on an accent and all the casting directors would have to be looking for is a face that goes with Rupert Grints not a plausible voice. I agree that it isn’t particularly fair that the ardent young Lavenders couldn’t come to the UK casting call, but it is definitely NOT racism.

  • cheyenne
    Jul 28, 2007 at 13:51

i agree… with alice. j.k. rowling is not racist, she just wants to keep the movies as close to the book as possible. seeing as hogwarts is a british witchcraft and wizarding school, it wouldn’t be right to have an american playing the part. i don’t think it is racism. like all casting calls there are requirements you have to meet, even if it is your nationality. so to all my fellow american people: stop whining about not getting the part (the auditions were over almost a month ago anyway). even though i am american, i think it is great that j.k. rowling is keeping an all british cast (even though a month ago i thought it was the dumbest thing ever).

  • Jake
    Jul 29, 2007 at 01:33

Don’t you think that if she was black or something , then JK would’ve said so? That’s what she did with Angelina Johnson and so forth. By the way, JK inisted that all of the cast had to be British or from British Isles, otherwise the part of Harry Potter would’ve gone to that dickhead from the Sixth Sense.
Lavender Brown should not be a blonde though I am fairly sure more blondes turned up for the part than brunettes.
Whoever gets the part will be very pretty or reasonably attractive enough to make Hermione appear unnattractive with jealousy (no-one looks good jealous). And anyway, it’s not as though she’ll be playing a huge part. Look at Cho Chang who was hardly in the films despite being the love interest of the movie and book’s protagonist.

  • Sahar Kashi
    Jul 29, 2007 at 15:13

Have they already chosen, or are they on their final desisions.. or have they not found the right person yet and are still looking.. would i still be able to mail my resume this late you think?

  • Alice
    Jul 30, 2007 at 10:27

They have narrowed it down to five people so I’m pretty sure it would be too late now.
Jake- totally agree I mean the casting of the patil twins was really closed and they had an even smaller part than cho. JK was really really specific when it came to them. It shows how much she cares about her book and giving people the right idea of what she’s written.

JK isnt being racist…its just going to be more authentic and all that jazz…she wrote the books at the end of the day so I do not think that anyone has the right to question her decision…the books and the films have made millions so she must be doing something right…

I really want to play Romilda but I think that shes been cut x

  • Andrea
    Aug 3, 2007 at 11:53

To Lewis-Hey-Are you POSITVE there are no more auditions for ANY characters? So-no Romilda or Demelza Robins?
I’m sure they meant there’s no more auditions open for the public and probably don’t want any more letters going in to them asking for auditions but they still might have interviews for Romilda Vane and Demeleza Robins for people with agents that they aren’t telling you about.
I’m not sure they’ll be any open auditions for Deathly Hallows although they do need the young Lily Evans, young Petunia and very young Snape. They already have young Lupin, young Sirius and young James potter. They might even need a young Lucius Malfoy.

  • Christina

Wha do you say in the letter? :s

  • Andrea
    Aug 3, 2007 at 13:16

Before you address your letters-make sure you have the RIGHT addresses! There are actually 2 addresses for Leavesden going around.
One is old and I wouldn’t turst it however my drama school were in contanct with Fiona Weir and she said that the address for any children wanting to find out audition information on their own is the one that says
    Leavesden Studios,
    PO Box 3000,
    South Way,
    Hertfordshire,
    WD25 7Lt
    UK.

However-Fiona said that to the Acadeny in May and so they may have stopped reading letters. It’s all very hush hush the academy got an email saying that they may or may not still hold private auditions and my teachers say it may be because they may have already got people in mind and so I’m trying to find out what’s going on myself.
    I’m Irish by the way.

Im positive the callbacks are not true! I’ve been phoning Twickenham studios and they told me and have told everyone I know that nobody has been contacted yet.
If you want to send something off it needs to go to Fiona Weir or the other woman Alice? And you can get them at Twickenham and Leavesden but I’d say Twickenham cause that was the one my friends agent recomended to us! Hope this helps :)

Can everyone stop saying when will the lavender brown auditions be..
    They’ve bin and gone.
    They were in july 07..
    Its now august 07..
    People please…
And stop saying stupid things like “im 12 but i look 16″ because in the movie lavender plays rons GF and rupert is actually about 19.. so why would he want to make out with a 12 year old FFS.
The casting dont care what age you look.
when you go to the audition they ask to see proof of age, Passport, birth cert.ect. and you have to be in the age restrictions.. so sorry 12 year olds ;)

They dont audition for experienced actors neither..

  • Alice

Just going back a few comments to Audreya, you saw Lavender Brown in your entertainment magazine? She has definitely not been cast yet. The call backs are not for a week or so yet. All possible open auditions have already occured in the UK and there will be absolutely no more.
Also; why is it that everybody is desperate to contact the studios? Remember being an extra is not very rewarding, you are not on screen for more than a few a seconds and it takes up alot of time ,which you could be using to study drama and working for a degree and thus much increasing your chances of being in a film as a main character. The more minor parts such as the grey lady and Fleurs sister will most likely not be opened as auditions for the public so there are not really any more parts going for the Harry Potter fims. His dark materials is being made into a film. the first book has pretty much finished filming but soon there will probably be a large casting call for the second film (a boy of around 12 needed)
Remember Harry Potter films aren’t the only ones out there. (Sorry to go on) Alicex

Yep I’ll second with Alice in that Lavender has not been cast yet. Apparently they’re struggling to find a perfect match which is what happened with Luna. It’s far too late to hold more auditions which is why apparently this time they are taking more notice of letters.
Which I think answers why people are keen to contact the studios ( for Lavender anyway.)

Zara: They try to let everyone know the results, good or bad but obviously with the amount of people involved they may not get around to everybody. :) Good Luck xx

    Hey, I have a question…

Do any of Hermione and Ron or Harry and Ginny’s kids not speak? Because I’m from California, but i want to be in these movies sooo bad! And would J.K. care if there is an American kid who plays a part that DOESNT TALK?! And i forget, does Draco have a daughter, or son? I’m thinking son, but I could be wrong…

so Elly are you positive of what you heard?! =D

Yeah well it should all be right I heard it from an agent (my friends) and apparently they’re taking longer than usual to whittle down which normally means they’re having a hard time. Both Leavesden and Twickenham said on the phone that Fiona and Alice try to get everybody’s enquiries answered whether they’re giving good or bad news. And they did say at auditions everyone who got a callback would get a call, however far they had or hadn’t got.

Ally: I think there is one that just laughs, but JK was really strict about it but you could still write nearer the time! =]

What were the call backs like? I bet just being in the Potter films would be amazing! lol, I would take any part if I could.

Yea it would! Lavender Brown would be cool to play because she shows lots of emotions… really giggly, jealous… stuff like that. The best character I think to play would be Fred or George. Funniest guys of the series!

Not a callback! I meant when you had to do a screen test if you got kept back! Sorry!

Lewis- Harry and Ginny have kids, Ron and Hermione have kids - end of Deathly Hallows.

If you didn’t get contacted after 3 days after the OPEN audition you won’t have got the part i was told. I went to the auditions, and my best friend got to do a screen test and she was told they would contact her in the next few days.
I wouldn’t advise sending letter as they DON’T hardly ever read them as they get so many. It would be a better option to send in a dvd/video.
But the Lavender auditions are OVER!! If you want to be in the films you’ll have to try for a different character, i’m sure they will have auditions for Deathly Hallows. Shooting of Half Blood Prince starts end of september so i’m sure they have probably found they’re top 5 girls.
Sorry that was so long! x

Hey-I wouldn’t be too sure that they’d put the epiligoue at the end of Deathly Hallows because there’s already so much in it that the extra but might be cut-or it might just show something like a picture of everyone grown up at the end instead of going onto a whole other scene.
My friend told me that they’ve cast a young Lily Evan because she looked it up and it went to an actress [18] from somewhere in England. Can’t remember her name but there’s blogs about her on a few websites and on an entertainment website and I’m pretty sure their right. But-they’ll still need a Lily Evans aged 11-13 and a young Petunia. They may even cast a Lily Evans aged [16] for those scenes in Hogwarts with Snape.
They HAVE cast a young Snape. He was in OotP.

On another note-my agent told me that they are still holding private interviews! He said that he rang up his friend who is also an agent but has already two clients in the films and knows Fiona Weir and he said that Fiona has been under a lot of pressure lately and she is still undergoing auditions.
So there is a chance! For what parts-I’m not sure but my agent said one part is definatly Cormac McLaggen. My agent also said that sometimes they do cast small roles but end up cutting them in the end.
Oh-and Fluer’s young sister IS cast. Wikipedia are brilliant for all the characters who are or are not cast. Just type it in and they have every single character from Harry Potter and all references to them.

Oh- and just to tell you all that the Hogwarts quidditch teams are always cast even if they don’t appear. So-my friend told me that they may be looking for Demelza Robins who is in the quidditch team for Gryfindor in Half Blood Prince.

that would def. be sweet if harry potter casting could be from the states! too bad JK won’t have it…anyway for all you US people, don’t worry about the casting…pretty soon there could likely be a huge movie over here that could be just as famous as harry potter-ya never know! many people will have there chances…i’m not an actress or anything, i just thought it was interesting to read these comments (although i do wish i could put on a sweet brit accent and get some movie skills lol) sorry this is so long! but just wanted to finish up by saying congrats to whoever made the harry potter films!

    that is so effin gay!
they only want freakin british kids to try out???
how do they expect us americans to audition?? fly our asses over there!??! um RACIST MUCH????

    okay

    1. i can understand your upset but bye the sound of your message you live in ameirca so you have way more opertunities than me who lives in a rural town in Australia

2.The americans arn’t expected to audition becuase jk wanted an all british cast so she could give britsh actors a chance so all the parts wouldn’t go to americans like they probably would have if she didn’t say anything so there is no need to “fly your ass over there)

3.THE FREAKING AUDITIONS ARE OVER MAN GET A EFFING LIFE!!

  • Katie
    Aug 9, 2007 at 06:43

Yea it is a bummer that it’s exclusive to just british people, because maybe not just americans would get in too. Maybe Austrailians would get some roles. That woulda been cool. But also, it’s kinda cool at the same time to have an all British cast. Then for everyone else Harry Potter can seem a little bit more real. So try not to get too upset. It is what it is, and you never know… maybe they might change their minds, and there could be a non british actor. Even though it’s a slim chance… anything is possible! And I gotta say too, I think they’ve done an awesome job with all the characters so far!
