Lots of cuts made in film version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Uh, what do you expect, folks? The book is like eleventy hundred pages long. It’s kind of like the LOTR trilogy - if you wanted EVERYTHING from the Tolkien books, you’re talking about a twenty hour long movie.
Fans have been left disgusted after learning last night that the latest Harry Potter film has made some extensive cuts from the original book.
The adaptation of ‘Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix’ has removed three characters and the once traditional Harry Potter game of Quidditch.
Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, Rita Skeeter the journalist and Dobby The House Elf are the three unlucky characters.
According to The Sun, producers have said that it would not have been possible to fit everything from the book, otherwise the film would have been over seven hours long.
Mind you, seven hours wouldn’t put off the most hardcore Potter fans.
Expect the excised material to appear on a future DVD release.
Well, that’s cool about the extra material on the DVD though, huh? That’ll be something to look forward to! Now, I’m one of those people who wouldn’t mind sitting through seven hours of Harry Potter, but that’s just me - and I think that the studio probably had to just make some hard decisions. Ah, well.

no just no! rita skeeter and dolby have to be in it. they r so funny. they give the story some humor. i love harry potter, and i’ll watch it anyway they cut it, but i think they should have spent the money they spent on speical features, on some more important charachters if you ask me!

i like the little christmas decorations dobby makes that say “Have A Harry Christmas!” But we won’t be seeing that, now will we? Bring Dobby into the story!

7 hours..not a bother =)
i didnt really like the 5th movie! There were so many differnet scenes in it and it kept changning all the time bu i suppose they just had to cut it down! i was angry that they never showed the chat with dumbledore and harry at the end on voldemort! i know it would have been boring but i thought it was really interesting and the puzzle was begininng to come together!
