*growls*
You know, I’ve just had a very through discussion with many Harry Potter fans, and they say this (it isn’t exact, but pretty close):
“I can’t believe this!” said a friend of mine
“Yeah, I know. But it is still just a rumor,” I replied.
“Yeah, but still! If she does this, I can promise you that no one will buy one of her books ever again!” said another friend.
“It will make her career go downhill for the rest of time!” (he is rather dramatic…)
“That is just something you DON’T do. I mean that is going against all of literature rules. And-”
It went like that for some time. But they are right. If she does this, it will ruin her career. I hope she doesn’t do it.

I think it’d be pretty hard to ruin JK Rowling’s career at this point. If only because whatever she writes after Harry Potter, she will probably never again enjoy that level of success. I would be very surprised if she did. But anyway, what she’s done so far is simply amazing, and I don’t think anything could take that away.
The only thing she risks if she kills off her main character (and that’s no small thing) is to have fanatics threaten her life.
I hope she stays true to the story she has in mind in any case. Because that’s what has made her books fantastic.
